Schnitzel was originally made with horse meat (yeah, totally grossed me out, as I have had horses in my life always). Weiner Schnitzel is made from veal. Both Germany and Austria claim to be the origin of Schnitzel; but if you recall from high school history, it was all part of the German Confederation about 250 years ago.

In reply to Carolyn. I have done it in the air fryer, but since they are all so different, I haven't added it to the instructions. Make sure to spritz the outside with plenty of oil.

I just found this blog today, and I love it! I was looking for egg noodle and chicken dishes and found yours. It’s on the menu tonight! I love to cook and cook every night, but I love new recipes, too. This pork schnitzel will be next! It sounds delicious. Plus I love the “make it go farther” tip. We feed 5 kids on a tight budget and love making food last. Thanks for all of this!
